Model Answer:
I was a student at the City University in Hong Kong, and I can remember the farewell event of the university which was held marking the end of our academic years. This was a great event and each of the students felt honoured on this day. I also took part in the event and can recall the day clearly.

The university was decorated beautifully for the event. All the students from my batch, whose farewell was celebrated, were asked to be there in the morning, and accordingly, we were there. The university authority arranged a grand way to bid us farewell as we have completed our graduation. All of the students received their certificates and crests with some remarks and wishing for their success ahead in life.

It was a kind of gala event. The university authority asked our parents to be present at the event as well. My mother was with me. The university chancellor, vice-chancellor, and other admin officials were present there in line with the other invited guests. Some of the former students were also invited to the event. The event was filled with joy and happiness, though sometimes we felt sad because we knew we would not visit the university and meet our friends the way we did after that very day.

I can remember the event vividly for a few reasons. First, it was the last day at my university - which was sad for me. But it was also a happy day because I formally finished my graduation on that very day. I remember the day also because my mom was very proud of me. Her immense joy made me exultant as well. Finally, it was a day when I knew I would have to leave many classmates and friends behind whom I was not sure when I would meet again. The emotion, passion, excitement, joy and sorrow - all were very intense to make it a day to be remembered for the lifetime.

Idea generation for this Cue Card topic:

"Describe a special school or college event that you remember well."

People are fond of their school and college day memories because they miss childhood and teenage times very much. Amid numerous events of school and college days, an IELTS candidate can have diversified means to deal with this cue card. Some other hints for this cue card are enlisted here for their convenience.

1. I was afraid of the "Parents Day" in my college. Our parents were invited, and they were informed about the latest updates regarding our academic performance, manners and extracurricular activities. I can remember clearly the last parents meeting where I was declared as the best performer in the college. The authority awarded me some beautiful prizes. It was a happy day for me.

2. Taking some unnecessary breaks to avoid classes was something I sometimes did when I was in school. But my teachers were obviously smarter than me. One of the teachers noticed the matter and after a thorough investigation, found that I waste time in the corridor during class hours when I was supposed to be in a break. I was warned, and the teacher got angry with me. I still remember that day because on that very day I promised not to do that ever again.

3. One of my classmates was caught red-handed one day while cheating in an exam at our college. In fact, the college authority was very serious about the matter. They never did allow any student to cheat in the exam. The college authority punished him severely and forbade him to attend classes for the next couple of weeks. This was so frightening for many of us that we still remember the day.

4. The inauguration of the multimedia classroom at the Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur in India was a remarkable event that I still remember. The entire premise took a festive mood. This was a notable day for the institution and its students. When the projector was switched on at a class, everyone shouted loudly with joy and excitement. It was a big day for us.

5. I enjoy watching sports a lot though I am not that good at participating in different sports. So, like most other years, I was sitting at the gallery of the annual sports competition in my college, and it was an exciting day for me. Things were going fine. But, suddenly someone stumbled upon me and split the hot beverage on me. I was astonished by this event. It was unintentional, and I soon forgot about it. But the excitement of the sports and the rare event of getting wet with the hot beverage made it a day that I will always remember.
