Model Answer 1:
Life is full of many happy events and occasions. Thankfully, I have also been blessed to experience some of these happy occasions in my short life, and this cue card topic offers me a perfect opportunity to revisit one such happy occasion today.

Back in my high school days, about 10 years ago or so, I wasn’t exactly known to be a very “strong” young lad, compared to the other young boys of my age. So, when other schoolboys were busy, running and playing with each other in a field, I would just feel happy watching them from a safe distance most of the time. Sometimes, I even used to ignore the requests of my game teacher to take part in the physical activities of my school, which was frowned upon by my fellow students and my game teacher alike. Of course, I had tried to tell them that I didn’t like any sports, that required physical labour, but they were never in a mood to listen to me. Instead, they all decided to ridicule me because of my reluctance to become physically active. Needless to say, I felt hurt and embarrassed because of their unjustified “ridicule”.

Anyway, then came an opportunity to prove my value to my school one day by taking part in an inter-school debate competition. Initially, my school authority didn’t want to include me in the debate team, but my school advisor decided to give me a chance due to my persistent request. So, my team and school supervisor, a person who I had always admired because of his kind words to me, left our town to take part in the debate in another city. In that debate, my school didn’t only win the competition, but also I became one of the top performers.

Anyway, I felt excited and blessed after winning the competition because I wanted to prove my “worth” as a good student of my school, if not as an “athletic”. Besides, I felt very proud of my achievement because I helped my school become a champion in the debate competition for the first time.

Sample Answer 2:
A few months ago I won a prize in a 300-meter sprint competition at my college, and my family and I were so happy and excited because of that. In fact, they did not expect me to win that tough competition. So, when I returned home with the prize, they smiled at me pleasantly. I was very excited and happy too.

I took part in this annual sports competition at the college because I thought I could do well in it. I practised hard before the competition but others were doing the same. And when I finished as the runner-up and returned home with a prize, it made my day.

When I returned home, I met almost every one of my family. I had my parents, uncles and aunts, cousins and my grandmother. My grandma seems exhilarated and blessed me saying that someday I would be a great sportsman (though I do not have such intentions). But I was pleased to know that everyone was happy about my achievement.

I had to work hard to do well in that fierce competition. So when I ended up doing well, it was like my hard work and dedication were finally paid off. Moreover, it brought smiles to the faces of my family members and they were happy which was a truly great feat for me.
