Model Answer
It can be said that colours are everywhere we look unless, of course, we don’t appreciate the colourful world around us. But, I like visiting beautiful and colourful places, and today I would like to talk about such a colourful place that I visited about two years ago.
The place, I visited, is called St. Jones which is situated in the Canadian state of Newfoundland and Labrador. Being one of the most eastern places in North America, St. Jones, the capital city of Newfoundland and Labrador, certainly is a very colourful place because it offers a perfect mix of history, nature, culture and wildlife.
Regarded also as the oldest city of North America, St. Jones just blew my mind away by its remarkable scenic settings. The downtown city area slopes down a steep hill into a harbour, offering stunning views of the water. All of the cute little houses were painted in bright candy colours like green, red, blue and yellow. By the way, I was told that these jellybean row houses and clapboard homes were painted by their owners with leftover boat paint, which, I thought, was super creative and cool. Also, the houses looked flawlessly colourful as if they were painted by some skilled artist on a large canvas.
Then, of course, the experience of enjoying one of the best panoramic, if not the best, city views along with the vast Atlantic Ocean from atop “Signal Hill” (Cabot Tower) was simply outstanding and unforgettable. On top of that, the stunning view of bay bulls, with colourful seabirds flying on it, and freely-roaming moose, crossing the road, were something that just can’t be found anywhere else at the same time.
Well, after visiting this place, I felt like this place had everything to cheer up a person even if he or she was having a very bad day. I also felt that I could actually spend the rest of my life in one of those beautifully painted houses, standing on the sloppy St. Jones downtown, while watching the stunning view of the waters at the bottom.
